MemoRe / Privacy

MemoRe Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 18, 2026. Release scope: Japan, the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the Philippines.

MemoRe is developed and operated by independent developer Playxeld. Privacy: privacy@playxeld.com. Support: support@playxeld.com.

This policy covers MemoRe, its widget and share extension. It does not cover other independent features of playxeld.com.

Local storage and private iCloud sync

MemoRe stores your text and relationships in a local database. When iCloud is available and MemoRe is allowed to use it, supported personal content and media sync through your private CloudKit database across devices using the same Apple Account. No separate MemoRe account is required. The developer does not operate a server for storing your memory library.

Content may include memories, stories, people and relationships, places, dates, daily feelings, colors, sensory details, echoes, works, future notes, and supported attachments. It is used to record, organize, search and revisit your content and provide the features you choose. Sync also processes record identifiers, modification times, deletion markers, a randomly generated device identifier and an account fingerprint derived from the CloudKit account identifier. These support sync integrity, not advertising tracking.

Manage MemoRe's iCloud access in device settings. Local recording remains available without iCloud, but cross-device updates and fetching cloud attachments may not work. Turning sync off does not erase existing cloud content, other devices or exported backups. When changing iCloud accounts, the app may ask whether to use local content with the new account.

The iCloud provider and terms depend on your Apple Account and service region. See Apple's Privacy Policy, iCloud access settings, and, where relevant to your account, iCloud in mainland China and its terms. The App Store release territory does not establish where all service data is stored.

Photos, video, sound and contacts

Selected photos, videos, Live Photo resources and audio recordings are managed in local media storage; supported personal media may sync to private iCloud. Selecting photos does not authorize access to your entire photo library. Camera and microphone permissions are requested for capture and recording.

Imported photos can contain time and location metadata. MemoRe can use that information to organize memories and suggest places. Photo coordinates may be sent to Apple's location services to resolve place names. Turning off device location permission does not remove location metadata already in a photo or prevent this separate use of embedded coordinates.

You can enter people manually or select system contacts. Selected names, photos and contact identifiers needed for the association can be saved in MemoRe, included in backups and synced. When you initiate a message to an associated person, contact details may be read to prefill the recipient; you confirm sending in the relevant system interface. Revoking contacts permission does not erase people information already saved in MemoRe.

Permissions and external services

The initial production release does not offer Google Books online book search, museum artwork search, or museum-link and image import. Books and artworks can be recorded manually. Previously saved artwork information, relationships and local images remain subject to this policy for storage, sync and deletion. Opening a saved source link is a visit to an external website.

Optional permissions are requested when needed. Refusing or revoking one may prevent the dependent feature from working, while unrelated features remain available.

  • Apple WeatherKit receives the location used for weather. With location permission already granted, weather may refresh on launch or return to the foreground.
  • Apple Maps and location services receive place searches, selected places or photo coordinates needed to resolve a place.
  • Apple Music processes searches, song identifiers, relevant authorization and subscription availability, and storefront information for search and playback.
  • Loading remote images or opening external links sends requests to the relevant website or image provider.

Providers receive the request information and network information such as an IP address. MemoRe does not send your entire private library to these search services. Queries, photo coordinates needed for place resolution, and content you choose to share are transmitted for those features. Avoid including unnecessary private information in searches.

External providers may keep request or technical logs under their own rules. Deleting a MemoRe record does not delete external logs. You can choose not to use the corresponding online searches and imports.

Provider information: Apple. Other websites you choose to open have their own privacy rules.

Notifications, widgets and sharing

iCloud sync uses system background remote notifications. Future-note reminders request notification and sound permissions when you enable reminders and are scheduled locally. Their wording does not include the sealed note's body. Manage reminders and previews in system settings.

Widgets use local shared storage containing display information such as titles, text excerpts and thumbnails. These may appear on the Home Screen or other system surfaces. Remove the widget or use available system display settings to manage visibility.

The share extension temporarily stores selected imports locally so the main app can process them. Exporting or sharing to another app, person or file location gives that recipient the content you select. Subsequent handling depends on your choices and the recipient.

Deletion and recovery copies

Ordinary content remains until you delete or replace it. Deleted memories first enter Deleted Records, where they can be restored or permanently deleted. Moving a record there is not permanent erasure.

Permanent deletion starts removal of the relevant record and media and syncs the deletion when iCloud is available. Cloud processing and other devices need connectivity and completed sync. Deletion markers and sync identifiers without the memory body may remain to prevent old content from reappearing.

MemoRe may preserve independent local sync recovery copies of content that could otherwise be overwritten. They do not automatically sync and are not included in the current full MemoRe backup. Some copies involving permanent-deletion conflicts are valid for seven days after creation and are removed when app cleanup runs; physical removal may be delayed if the app is not running or cleanup fails. Other recovery copies remain until you clear them. Manage, export or delete them in Settings → Sync Recovery Copies. Clearing these copies is separate from deleting ordinary memories.

Exported files, shared content and other backups must be deleted separately. Uninstalling the app or disabling sync does not erase all cloud data or external copies. For cloud content, complete deletion with working sync and check other devices; Apple's iCloud storage controls may also be available.

Backups and device settings

Settings provides full backup export and restore, with ordinary and password-encrypted options. Supported personal content, media and attachments are included. Ordinary backups have no additional backup password protection; encrypted backups require the correct password. Keep files and passwords secure.

Export sync recovery copies separately. Restoring an older backup can replace current content and, with sync enabled, affect content and deletions on other devices using the same Apple Account. Read the in-app warnings first.

Language, theme, privacy-lock settings and echo interaction state do not sync as personal content. MemoRe backups, operating-system backups and CloudKit sync are different mechanisms. System backups follow your device and Apple Account settings and Apple's rules.

Security and diagnostics

MemoRe uses system storage, permissions and CloudKit, and offers encrypted backups. Privacy Lock protects the entrances identified by the app; it does not add encryption to the entire library, widgets or exported files. System authentication such as Face ID returns an authentication result, not your biometric template.

The app can keep local diagnostic information such as sync stages and error categories. You may choose to provide diagnostics when seeking help; review them before sending. For App Store installations, Apple may process or provide developer reports according to your system diagnostics settings.

For TestFlight testing, Apple automatically collects crash logs and usage information and shares them with the developer; system diagnostics settings do not let you opt out of this collection. Apple also collects and shares feedback you choose to submit through TestFlight. This information may include a device identifier and may be associated with your name and email depending on the invitation method or feedback. If you accept an invitation through a public link only, the developer cannot see the name and email in the invitation information. The developer may view this information in Apple's developer tools to investigate issues and improve MemoRe, without downloading reports or forwarding them to third parties. Apple's handling and retention follow TestFlight & Privacy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/data/en/test-flight/).

MemoRe currently has no embedded advertising or behavioral-tracking SDK and no feature that sends private memories to third-party AI. This does not mean external services do not process requests they receive.

Contact, requests and retention

Use the app to access, edit, delete and export content, system settings to revoke optional permissions, or stop using an online feature. Revocation does not automatically erase previously stored or transmitted information.

For privacy questions or applicable access, correction, deletion and other data requests, contact privacy@playxeld.com. For support, contact support@playxeld.com. Explain the request without sending a full backup, Apple Account password or unnecessary identity documents. We request only verification proportionate to the request and explain any inability to fulfill it. Applicable rights and response deadlines depend on the relevant law.

When you email us, we receive your email address, displayed name, message and attachments you choose to send, to respond and handle the matter. Both addresses use Apple iCloud Mail under the developer's Japanese Apple Account. Your own mail provider also handles transmission. This is separate from your private iCloud sync and does not mean all data is stored in Japan or mainland China.

Support and privacy correspondence and attachments are retained for 12 months after resolution, then deleted. Earlier deletion requests are handled unless retention is legally required. Unresolved correspondence is retained only as needed to handle the matter. The mail provider's backups, logs and deletion processes follow its rules. An email does not give us remote access to your device or private iCloud memories; we can provide instructions for managing them.

Service regions, minors and operator information

MemoRe initially launches in Japan, the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and the Philippines. It is a general-purpose private memory tool, not specifically directed to children, and does not impose a universal minimum age of 14. Mainland China and the EU are outside this initial release. The App Store age rating describes content suitability; it does not establish a user's ability to independently consent to every use of personal information.

Minors should review this policy and the settings for iCloud, location, photos, contacts, music, external links and sharing with a parent or guardian. Apple Account and external-service age and family rules still apply. System permission prompts, store ratings and this policy do not replace parental consent required by law.

Parents or guardians may contact privacy@playxeld.com to request access, correction, deletion or cessation of processing of children's personal information held by us, or instructions for managing device and private iCloud content. A parent or guardian should contact support on a child's behalf. Do not send children's identity documents, full memory backups, passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.

If we learn that we have received a child's personal information for which required parental consent has not been obtained, we will stop processing that should not continue and delete the information as required by applicable law, or obtain the necessary parental consent before continuing. Such information is not retained for 12 months merely because of the general correspondence retention rule. The app currently has no dedicated age-verification or verifiable parental-consent flow; continued use is not treated as such consent.

For personal data held by the developer, use the privacy address to request information about purposes, access, correction, cessation of use or deletion as applicable. The operator's legal name, address and other information required by applicable law can be requested at privacy@playxeld.com and will be provided without undue delay as required by law.

Changes

We will update this policy and its effective date when data practices change. New purposes, recipients or features requiring separate authorization will receive the necessary notice and authorization; continued use alone does not replace consent required by law.
